MEET THE COMPANY
FOUNDER & Artistic Director
Lindsay Smith is the Founder and Artistic Director of Transit Dance Company. She began dancing at the age of 3 in Huntsville, AL. Lindsay went on to perform and investigate her two passions for dance and music at the University of Mississippi where she earned her B.F.A in Musical Theatre/Dance. Lindsay moved to Los Angeles where she explored her music and dance collectively.
Lindsay moved back to Oxford, Mississippi in 2010 where she taught contemporary, jazz and tap at the University of Mississippi as adjunct faculty and founded Hinge Dance Company, LLC with her close friend and dancer partner, Lydia Siniard. Together they grew the Oxford dance community in many ways including providing adult classes and an outlet for all types of dancers to feel at home. This has become Lindsay's passion to provide welcoming and fun dance classes as well as performance opportunities for adults who use to dance, continue to dance, or have always wanted to try. Lindsay moved to Nashville in the spring of 2015 where she began working with DancEast and continues there as the Adult Dance Program Director and Instructor.
